Senior Systems Architect Manager

In this exciting new role, I am managing a team of people, based at the Italian Headquarter, while the rest of the team is distributed across AMER, LATAM, and APAC.

I am responsible of the design and construction of the new Tier III Data Center, the Design and Development of the NOCC (Network Operation Command Center) as well as the Design and Implementation of the Campus Metro Network in the Italian Headquarter.

My skills and expertise in this role encompass:

• Strengthening my team by enhancing the capabilities of each individual member. I plan training courses to continuously increase knowledge and actively participate in leading IT events mainly in EMEA.
• Infusing an Open Source culture among the team and company projects, which includes the integration of RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, GitLab, Zabbix, Grafana, Proxmox and Ceph.
• A strong understanding of IT Systems and Telecommunications.
• Experience in designing, developing, and delivering plans, processes, products, systems, and services.
• Conducting cost/benefit analyses for appropriate technologies in areas such as data centers, computing, storage, and networking.

Senior Systems Administrator Manager

I joined the company as a Senior Systems Administrator Manager in the Systems Infrastructure and Telecommunication Department.

Key goals associated with this experience was:

• Designing and implementing the company worldwide Tier1 network connectivity with Level3 (LUMEN) based on a local DWDM circuit of multiple 10Gbps channels implemented in the Headquarter Campus with multiple DIA for worldwide connectivity to and from all remote branches.
• Implementing the Microsoft Express Route dedicated uplink with Level3 (LUMEN) to provide maximum performance, security and efficency to the connectivity to Microsoft Azure and 365 Services.
• Analyzing the Datacenter and Network Topology of the Copan Industries Inc. facility based in Puerto Rico redesigning it from scratch with double internal Single Mode fiber optic circuit that connect 8 IT Rooms to the Datacenter by designing and implementing a mesh network topology where all systems and subsystems are connected together using both fiber uplinks from the two core network rooms strategically builded in different positions across the building.
• Designing the Business Continuity for Copan Industries Inc in Puerto Rico with a second Tier III Datacenter on the opposite side of the island.
• Designing the Inmarsat satellite backup system for Copan Industries Inc in Puerto Rico and WiFi system with dedicated radio profile to increase performance and roaming efficiency.
• Designing and implementing three network LAN circuits connected together throught static routes for Copan Industries Inc in Puerto Rico with multiple 10Gbps uplinks.
• Bringing linux and open source technologies to the team.
• Designing and developing the Network Operation Command Center in Copan Industries Inc. in Puerto Rico.
• Developing the hardware and network monitoring system based on Zabbix and Grafana.
• Developing in ZPL the Zebra monitoring and handling system based on Zebra PPME software with dedicated scripts.

IT Manager

Ghidini Pietro Bosco S.p.A.

In November 2017 I became the IT Manager of Ghidini Pietro Bosco S.p.A., I started by decommissioning the network of obsolete endpoints and the mixed environment of thinclients and multi-brand IT systems defining an IT standard for the company and the production plants, standard that today allows the company to satisfy in no time every IT project.

I designed and created a new Datacenter, air-conditioned, scalable and virtualized on which the systems and services for the company and its factories are hosted. In addition, for the Datacenter I designed an innovative UPS system downstream of the electricity network that can keep the room operational with a range of 8 hours before proceeding to a programmed automatic shutdown of the systems and subsequent restart of the same at re-entry of the power grid.

To support the Datacenter and guarantee the company’s operations, I designed the installation of a Diesel Generator Group with a 48-hour autonomy. I designed the new network infrastructure redefining the entire structured cabling now obsolete, the new servers and their subsystems also programming a new naming convention for the identification of each device in the system. I designed a new highly scalable, reliable and automated storage and backup system.

I was responsible for the design and implementation of the MPLS fiber optic circuit for the connection of the headquarters of Brozzo di Marcheno with the production branch of Ponte Caffaro.

I created an ideal solution for the Windows-based production facility IoT of which a Case Study was published by Praim. In the hyperconvergence vision of the systems I designed and installed the new Datacenter at the headquarters and designed a new closed-loop fiber optic network for the headquarters from which all services and systems will be provided also for the remote branch Ghidini Aluminium Srl in addition to the new VoIP telephone system for both companies.

In 2012 I develop SFS, a file system created ad-hoc for the Cloud Storage platform that born later on in 2013.

SFS was designed to manage data volumes greater than 10PB distributed on multiple servers in multiple Datacenters located in Europe.

In January 2013 I developed the Suyara Cloud Storage Platform, which was presented on October 8 of the same year in Portugal at ESAD University during the Keynote, which was attended by 1500 people including students, lecturers and the public outside the faculty. In 3 months since its launch, Suyara acquired 38000 users by developing a data exchange traffic equal to 2PB (Petabyte).

In 2015 I developed the Suyara Supergate webserver with the aim of increasing the performance of large data exchange to and from the Suyara network and increasing its security through end to end data encryption.

The same year, ORACLE published a case study of the platform.

As a Software Engineering Director I have directed the design and development of Frontend and Backend applications including the Barclays software for surface and the Moncler app for iPad intended for use in all Moncler boutiques around the world.

Among the many projects stands out the contribution of the development of the platform SpaceGate NMS for Thales Alenia Space, a satellite access network platform based on DVB standards that was provided by Movistar (Telefonica) to large companies and the defense sector provided by Indra, managing in 2014 a development team of 89 people.

In these three years I have held the position of Team Leader and Technical Director of numerous projects for multinationals including being the head of development for the automated playout platform engineered for SKY Italia able to generate TGA templates for SKY Sport channels whose key point was the ability to make playout operators totally independent from the use of Adobe Photoshop by offering sophisticated automation for the generation and broadcasting of TV templates.

Also in this period I directed the development of the application for METRO AG able to automate the registration of new customers and the import data in SAP.

My career began in Storm Interactive, alongside the Art Director of the UIDT (User Interface Design Team), developing graphical interfaces for numerous software for Windows, OSX, mobile applications and frontend/backends interfaces for web portals.

During this time I contribute to the development of the mobile application interfaces for Vimar By-me and Vimar Fai il Punto. Following the launch in the Apple and Google Play stores, both applications receive two prestigious FWA awards.
